Home to NASCAR Nextel Series Grand Finale, held each November, Homestead-Miami Speedway began life as a 1.5-mile racetrack that was constructed in the aftermath of the destruction of Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Completed in 1995, the track has under gone several renovations to provide a home for over 80,000 fans attending many racing and entertainment events throughout the year.

Davco was selected as the electrical contractor to install approximately 2200 lighting fixtures on an assortment of lighting poles behind the back stretch, the grandstands and pit row. Breaking ground in April 2004, the project was completed by September 2004. The project lighting was designed to illuminate the speedway to accommodate night time viewing of races with speeds reaching over 200 mph. The complexity of this installation had no rival; from the intricate design detail essential to providing uniform lighting which insured zero glare so it would not obstruct the driver's vision, to positioning all fixtures and poles at the exact point specified on the computer generated photo metrics design drawings.

Davco was complemented for their outstanding work ethics and performance by the inspecting authorities of the City of Homestead, the lighting equipment manufacturer Musco Sports Lighting, and the NASCAR Governing Authority.

The track suffered significant damage from Hurricane Wilma in October, 2005. The grandstands, executive suites, pit road and garage areas were damaged from winds of more than 100 mph hitting the speedway. In addition to all the other damage, the storm took down 12 light poles and the reflective "Mirtran" fixtures that light the 1.5-mile speedway's front stretch and tore off a 13th light pole from atop the grandstands.

Track president Curtis Gray said at the time, it will not impact NASCAR's season finale Ford Championship Weekend. "But one of the things that might slow down testing or preclude us from doing any testing is putting the pit road light poles back into place." Because of Davco's continued commitment to their customers, Homestead-Miami Speedway was able to complete their testing and pit road opened once again.
